To stimulate students’ innovative thinking and showcase international students’ academic research capabilities, the International Education College (IEC) of Shenyang Aerospace University (SAU) successfully held the 4th Liaoning Provincial International Student Innovation Competition 2025 at Friendship Villa on November 20, 2025. The event offered a professional platform for international students to showcase their innovative achievements. Prof. Liu Hongliang, Deputy Dean of IEC, along with other distinguished supervisors, was present to review the innovative entries.

The event served as the preliminary round of the 4th Liaoning Provincial International Student Innovation Competition, laying the foundation for subsequent rounds. The campus selection round saw the submission of numerous outstanding student innovation projects covering cutting-edge fields including 3D printing, artificial intelligence, drone technology, and robotics. Notable entries included the project “UAV Swarm Collaborative Formation & Navigation System for Low-Altitude Economy”, focusing on the development needs of the low-altitude economy; “Project Aequus: Revolutionizing 3D printing for all via novel techniques,” which aims to promote the application of 3D printing through innovative techniques; and “An Autonomous Robotic Dog for Subsurface Metal Detection,” demonstrating innovative applications of robotic dogs in subsurface detection. Each project was developed by student teams consisting of members from various countries, fully embodying the multicultural traits of the International Education College.
During the defense session, each project team gave a 3–5-minute presentation via PPT, clearly outlining their project concepts, development processes, and expected results. In the subsequent 3-minute Q&A session, students confidently addressed questions from the judges, demonstrating solid professional knowledge and strong improvisational skills.

The event featured a special “GenXtra Innovation Project Showcase” segment, where multiple members of the student club presented their projects. This innovative platform not only equipped students with practical experience but also promoted interdisciplinary and cross-cultural academic exchanges, fostering a vibrant atmosphere for technological innovation on campus.

A panel of judges evaluated the projects based on criteria such as innovation, feasibility, and practicality. After their projects and ideas gained approval from the discerning panel of judges at SAU, the selected students were given the opportunity to present their innovative projects at the provincial competition, held online on November 29, 2025. This intercollegiate contest in Liaoning Province enabled SAU’s young innovators to reach a wider audience and encounter more potential opportunities and challenges. The SAU team also achieved remarkable results in the second round: one gold award, one silver award, and three bronze awards.
Representatives from IEC stated that the outstanding projects will represent the college in higher-level international student innovation competitions. To further advance its goal of fostering innovative talent, the college will continue to refine its mechanisms for nurturing such students, build more diverse practical platforms, and support students in turning innovative ideas into tangible outcomes, contributing to the development of globally minded, innovative professionals.
