On Friday, 3rd December 2021, the Online Graduation Defense for undergraduate students of International Economics and Trade, and Thesis Proposal Defense for master’s students of business Administration was organized.
The defense panel comprised six (6) professors from the college of Economics and Management studies, and was chaired by professor JING Hao.
Total of 9 undergraduate students and three (3) master’s students participated in the online defense.
The students were in high spirits and demonstrated a high level of confidence as they waited to be called upon by the panel. Each student was given five (5) minutes to defend their thesis with well-prepared PowerPoint presentations, after which they were asked questions by the panel and allowed time to elaborate their research findings.
The defense included interesting research topics such as ‘Development Prospects of Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Papua New Guinea’, ‘The Effect of Inflation on Private Investment in Tanzania’ and ‘Effects of International Trade on Economic Growth of Zimbabwe’.
When the presentations were completed, students who had minor corrections to be made to their reports were given the opportunity to rectify the mistakes and resubmit their report.
Overall, not only were the professors satisfied with the quality of the students’ thesis reports, but they were also proud of the students’ ability to think in depth about the economic problems facing the world and discuss viable remedies towards solving those problems.
