On 27th November 2020, SAU organized 2020 Fall Semester International Freshmen Matriculation and Awarding Ceremony of Outstanding International Students.

The ceremony commenced with a speech by Professor Fan Zhenwei, Vice President of SAU. He extended a warm welcome to the Freshmen. In his speech he mentioned three things that he hoped for. Firstly, he hoped the freshmen would adapt to the new way of learning by overcoming all obstacles in order to achieve their study goals. Secondly, he hoped the freshmen would cherish the opportunity to study in China, becoming cultural communicators of friendly exchanges. Thirdly, he expected the students' quality and ability to soar to new heights.

Lecturers'representative Ms. Wang Yueqi also gave a heartfelt speech, recognizing the important role that the diversity in SAU community plays in making us better individuals. She encouraged the freshmen to realize that even though we come from different countries, we share one common goal which is to grow in unity.

Moreover, freshmen representative Rana Ruhul Amin and current students' representative Brenya Thomas Kwame both gave deeply personal and honest speeches inspiring the freshmen to utilize the resources of the university to the fullest, making sure to leave a positive mark during their time of study at SAU.

After the speeches it was time to recognize the contributions and hard work of some outstanding individuals and groups of students on campus.

The CV volunteers team was an essential team of willing students who helped the students on campus during the lockdown period. They were responsible for daily temperature checks of every student on campus, as well as sanitizing public areas.

Similarly, the Poetry group (Solar Echoes) was recognized and awarded.  Their creativity in writing and reciting their own Chinese poems during the pandemic motivated the international students in and outside China to be positive about their study and life during the special time.

Also among the groups awarded was a group called Jet Nova. They won two special trophies in the Power Innovation and Future Engine Design Competition of SAU, which is the highest honor of this competition. Through this event, the students have improved the level of professional skills, realized integration of theory and practice and enhanced practical ability in engineering through their project.

The more known group was IEC TV team. Their efforts not only included keeping the students informed of events happening on campus, but also organizing events and programs of their own with the goal of inspiring creativity and participation in intellectual and culture enriching events.

In the individual category of outstanding international students, some students were acknowledged and awarded for their academic excellence, selflessness and their devotion to service.

All in all it was a successful event – one that will inspire both the freshmen and the continuing students to always work hard to achieve their future goals and aspirations.
