On November 11, 2020, the assessors of Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China arrived at SAU for on-site visit and evaluation. The delegation included Mr. Lin Shiliang (Deputy Director of Accreditation Commission of China Education Association for International Exchange), Mr. Luan Fengchi (Dean of China University of Petroleum), Mr. Weng Jingnong (Dean of Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics), Mr. Jin Quanyuan (Dean of Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics), Ms. Chen Shaoping (Dean of Taiyuan University of Technology) and Ms. Wang Fan (Senior Project Manager of CEAIE).
Chairman Zhai Wenbao, Vice President Lin Feng and Vice President Tong Gang attended the meeting with directors and deans of relevant departments.
Mr. Zhai Wenbao gave a welcoming speech to the assessor delegates and emphasized the importance of accreditation. He said that accreditation will thoroughly evaluate international student education quality and talent training objectives.
Mr. Lin Shiliang made a speech and said international education accreditation is an important move to enhance the supervision and development under the guidance of Ministry of Education. MOE aims to provide a unified standard and quality assurance mechanism for international student education in Chinese universities and colleges.
Mr. Tong Gang gave an introduction from three aspects: SAU general information, international student education, and self-assessment. He said that the accreditation offers a good opportunity to optimize our education mechanism and push forward our international student education to a new era.
During two-day assessment, the assessors visited the airplane exposition garden, aeronautical training center, library, Liaoning General Aviation Academy, and International Student Apartments. The assessors had discussions with different groups including the faculty and students to gather feedback and determine the level of satisfaction for SAU international student education. In addition, they evaluated the facilities, environment and teaching materials, including curriculum structure, course syllabus, examination papers, student administration files, etc. The classes were also observed by the assessors which they chose randomly to evaluate the teaching quality and satisfaction among the international students.
On the afternoon of November 12, the assessors gave a feedback on the accreditation. They praised the achievements of SAU international student education and said SAU has established an international talent training mode which met the demands of global trend, national strategy and employment sectors. By strict standards and high requirements, SAU has the capability to provide high-quality international student education and effective administration system.
Mr. Zhai Wenbao appreciated the feedback from the assessors and encouraged all faculty to further enhance international student education. SAU international student education has twenty-year history and nurtured thousands of graduates. Many alumni are working in airline companies, Airbus, BMW, and Ministry of Aviation of different countries. The accreditation is an examination for the past twenty years and also a landmark of the future development. We are confident that the international student education of SAU will make more and more achievement in the future.
