After taking a one week rest from the first two internships, the third and final phase of internship for the graduating batch of Mechanical and Aeronautical engineering students started on 28th October 2019 and ended on Friday, 1st November 2019.
For the third phase, the internship was organized at Shenyang Machine Tool Company Limited (SMTCL). SMTCL is well known for the manufacture, sales and maintenance of intelligent machine tools that are used in both automotive and aerospace industries. This was evident in the variety of Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machines that were present on the factory floor.

Through out the one week long internship, the students were first given theoretical lessons in the conference facility of the company, and then they were led to the factory for practical lessons. The teachers and factory hands at SMTCL were very welcoming and helpful in teaching the students all they needed to know about the structural components and functions of the various CNC machines.
At SMTCL, the students discovered the potency and accuracy of using CNC machines in manufacturing.
On the final day of the internship, each student was given a brief opportunity to witness first-hand the cutting process of a work piece whose cutting code had been pre-programmed into the CNC machine. After the cutting process was over, they were allowed to keep the completed work piece as a souvenir.
