On October 19, 2018, the opening ceremony of Chinese Culture Interest Class was held in International Education College. The ceremony was attended by academics and international students from various countries.
In the ceremony, Wendy Yin, Head of Chinese Teaching and Research Office proposed that Chinese culture is as important as Chinese language. Learning Chinese culture is not only a matter of learning a specialty and a hobby, but also a part of learning Chinese elements, and it is also more beneficial to improve Chinese.
When explaining the importance of Chinese culture, Mr. Cheng said, “When everyone comes to China, they all hope that their studies can be improved, and their careers can be developed. Therefore, it is especially important to learn Chinese well. Now, through our cultural classes, we can profoundly learn about traditional Chinese culture, Chinese customs, principles of doing things, learning Chinese virtues, Chinese wisdom, and even Chinese humor. Chinese language proficiency is improved and even our international students may become China hand".
The opening ceremony was very successful. International students had keen interest in Chinese culture through the introduction by the teachers. Through this opening ceremony, they learned the first Chinese culture- applause.
