China, represented by China Association for Science and Technology (CAST) officially joins the “Washington Accord” on June 2, 2016. As the 18th member, China makes the country’s engineering education more globally recognized in USA, UK, Australia, etc.
The historical moment indicates that China has standardized requirements which are in line with the international standard in terms of engineering education. It will also enhance engineering training quality and international competitiveness.
The accord was initiated in 1989 by professional civil engineering groups from 6 countries- namely the United States, Britain, Canada, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
“Washington Accord”, initiated in 1989 by 6 countries, is considered the most authoritative accreditation system, and entry into the accord is expected to get Chinese engineering students more recognition from the international community.
