On 26 May, 2015 as International Education College (IEC) team and Electronic Engineering College team prepared to battle Tuesday noon for the SAU annual soccer championship 2015, the supporters showed up in a good number to support their team at the game.
Both of the finalists looked comfortable when the match started, but none of them was able to create good chances and open the scoring. And with few minutes left for halt time, Anfela Afolabi Emmanuel dribbled the goalkeeper and passes the ball to Joseph Friday Arome which ended up magnificently inside the post.
IEC team made a few good attempts during the first half of the game but the Electronic team defended quite beautifully. They had a few good counter attacks as well but the finishing was poor. So it all ended 1-0 at half time.
In the second half, IEC continued to attack furiously, yet rejected by the Electronic team defenders. The time was running out and the environment in the stadium got intense. Well, just a few minutes were left on the referee’s watch; the glorious moment has arrived for the defending champions to score yet another goal. At the last minute of the match IEC got a free kick. Ariyo Temitayo Abiodun brought the ball home with an electrifying shot. The score was 2-0 in a score sheet and which was well enough to defend the title. This was the 3rd time that IEC football team was defending its title.
