China’s first electric two-seater light aircraft conducts airworthiness test flight

On 16 October, 2014, China’s first electrically powered two-seater aircraft RX1E conducted its spin test flight at Faku airfield, Shenyang completing all airworthiness certification test flight requirements of Civil Aviation Administration (CAA) of China.

This has become the first electric light aircraft approved by the CAA that utilizes composite materials and electromotor.

The aircraft is jointly developed by SAU, Shenyang Aircraft Design Institute and other relevant organizations. RX1E has non-polluting, environment-friendly, low noise and energy-conservation features.

The successful development of RX1E indicates that China has entered the electrically operated light aircraft manufacturing club of the world.
