Chinese paper-cutting Class

The paper-cutting is one of the folks traditional decorative art, which attracts people all over the world to attempt to study it as one famous Chinese culture. In the Chinese class in SAU, the students had the chance to try it by themselves!

In the class, teacher introduced the history and function of Chinese paper-cutting to the students, especially the rich content, like the auspicious designs which symbolize good luck and the avoidance of evil. After a basic introduction of paper-cutting, the teacher taught the students how to cut double “Xi”(Chinese character used in wedding), paper-cutting for window decoration and festivals.

All the students were wholeheartedly concentrated on the class, and did paper-cutting carefully. Some students even tried to design the patterns by themselves, like the symbol of country, and the expression of love. At the end of class, several students said that them would do some paper-cutting in the Christmas and New year, and put them on the walls for celebration.
