Maritime silk road and study in SAU seminar held
On 26 September, 2014, a seminar themed on “maritime silk road and study in SAU” was held in Administrative Building. Prof. Wang Qi, Vice President of SAU attended the seminar.
The seminar was hosted by Ms. Pearl Liu, Deputy Dean of IEC, Mr. Young Jae Kim (a Korean academic from Soongsil University) and related staff from IEC were also present. More than 40 international students from 13 countries held discussions and exchange with Prof. Wang and staff.

A presentation about the origin and international relations were given at the beginning of the seminar. After this brief introduction, international students reviewed their life at SAU and exchanged ideas about their current academic life with Prof. Wang.
“I love China and Chinese culture. In my country, there are many Chinese enterprises and I think when I look for employment, Chinese language proficiency will be very important”, said Nipun from Sri Lanka. He also expressed his wish to learn some management elective courses while studying engineering courses in order to broad his future employment field.

Tun Sopheada said that she knew a little about the history of silk road. “People in my country regard China as one of their best partner. We cherish our friendship and that’s also one of the reason that I came here. I want to improve my Chinese language and get more practice chance during my study”.
Other representative students also expected to get more chance to visit enterprises or intern.
Prof. Wang, as the initiator of this seminar, attached great importance to international students’ life and suggestions. “This seminar is a open exchange platform and our mission is to provide world standard education in order to be responsive to the global needs. All of you are cultural and friendship envoys which also shoulder the responsibility to your country’s prosperity.” He also stressed that SAU will further enhance curriculum reform in order to meet global employment market demand.
