IEC qualifies for the final of 2014 SAU football competition
On 29 May, 2014 International Education College enters the final of SAU annual football competition 2014 beating Collge of Postgraduate in the semis with 3-0.
Postgraduates came up with very defensive formation which seemed quite effective in first thirty minutes of the game. International Education team had almost eighty percent of the game possession yet they were still facing difficulties to open up a score sheet, while postgraduate defenders desperately attempted to cover. But just before the half time, Majula Kamima Francis rescues his side and unties a knot. He brought a ball to the back of a net after Anfela Afolabi Emmanuel’s attempt was deflected away from the post.
Kamima secured his first squad place after a long gap and who’s been said out of form but he proved himself after yet scoring the second one. He brought the ball home with a wonderful header in the corner kick, assisted by Shehu Herry.
IEC kept on showing aggressive football while postgraduates expected for the final whistle but just few minutes before referee said it was over, a newly substituted player Massicka-Zonganzoni Charli finished off with a fantastic goal. He curled up the ball to the top corner of the post from a long range. Well, the drama is over and IEC confirms the place in the final match with a triumph.
