Celebrations will be organized across Mauritius to mark the Chinese lunar Year of the Horse on Jan. 31, 2014, Mauritius Arts and Culture Minister Mukeshwar Choonee said on Wednesday at a press conference held in Port Louis.
The Chinese New Year, also known as the Spring Festival, is the biggest festival for the Chinese community living in the country.
The Mauritian Culture Ministry will organize a series of activities in collaboration with Port Louis municipality, the Chinese Embassy, the Chinese Cultural Center and the Federation of Chinese companies.
Within the framework of cultural exchange between Mauritius and China, a troupe of 37 artists from Liaoning province in China will visit the Indian Ocean island nation from Jan. 25 to 31, and will make performances together with local artists.
A cultural exhibition will be staged on Jan. 30 in Port Louis.
