On October 18th, a lecture named “Aviation Human Factors” was given by Mr Peter D Durran, a British lecturer of SAU, in Room 1012 at Friendship Villa.

Mr Durran has made a lifetime commitment to the career of aviation. He was a very experienced aircraft engineer and a former employee of South African Airways & British Airways. Since his retirement, he has become a teaching staff of SAU for many years.

His vivid and impressive real-life experience sharing attracted more than 100 students to engage into the world of aviation. He gave real life examples about errors by pilots, flight crews and ground maintainers, and emphasized that most failures in aircraft are caused by series of faults and not by just one specific error.

Lectures conducted on each Friday afternoon is a routine academic activity held by International Education College of SAU, aiming at broadening students’ views on aviation knowledge learning.
