International students at SAU have been celebrating with their peer group students in this golden fruitful season.

Students have been not only treated to cultural delights of China in the latest event of SAU’s cultural celebration series, but also they have experienced global village cultural fruits at SAU.

Nepalese students celebrated Deepavali Festival at the end of October with other international students and staff member of SAU. Deepavali, popularly known as the "festival of lights," is a festival celebrated between mid-October and mid-November for different reasons. For Hindus, it is one of the most important festivals of the year and is celebrated in families by performing traditional activities together in their homes.

The name "Deepavali", translated into "row of lamps", involves the lighting of small clay lamps in Sanskrit: filled with oil to signify the triumph of good over evil. These lamps are kept on during the night and one's house is cleaned, both done in order to make the goddess Lakshmi feel welcome. Firecrackers are burst in order to drive away evil spirits. During the festival, all the celebrants wear new clothes and share sweets and snacks with family members and friends.

Earlier this month, Indonesian students at SAU conducted a presentation about Indonesia, a land of splendid multi-culturalism and excellence. National costumes were put on during the presentation, and shows were put on after the presentation.

The series of international cultural celebrations would be continuously conducted in this semester. More attractive shows are coming soon.
