AVIC General Airplane Plans to Go Listed in 3 Years

“We are now enthusiastically engaged in the preparation for the company to go listed as whole in three years”, Mr. Sha Chang’an, deputy general manager of AVIC General Airplane Company Ltd. (hereafter General Airplane) said in an interview during 2011 China International General Aviation Convention. 

Mr. Meng Xiangkai, general manager of General Airplane, said:“we brought forward out development strategy, industry orientation and implementation method early this year. They include fundamental platform for research, manufacture and operation of general airplanes centered around Zhuhai base; complete general aviation industry chain and product spectrum, and enter international market with steady profit by the end of the twelfth Five Year Plan; “Chinese leading and world renowned” general aviation resolution provider by the year 2020”.  


General Airplane has built five general aviation industry bases including Zhuahi, Shenzhen, Shijiazhuang, Jingmen and Guiyang, one operation headquarter and two centers of research and marketing in Zhuhai, and three bases serving general assembly, delivery and fly test, and general aviation operation. In March this year, the company declared its acquisition of the world second general airplane manufacturer Cirrus, USA. It was also involved in the auction of the bankrupt EPIC, the world No. 1 single engine turboprop aircraft producer in Nov. last year, and got all intangible assets and some physical assets of four ultra-light business jets, thus gained possession of the IPR of the most advanced single engine turboprop airplane.


Meanwhile, the company has been paying efforts in research of general airplanes. It’s reported that it has two ultra-light business jets, named Starlight 100 and Starlight 200, two ultra-light turboprop aircraft, Primus100 and Primus 150, several airplanes that have already been put into mass production, Y-5B, “Little Eagle” 500 and “Seagull” 300, and new aircraft such as Y 15-2000 and “Dragon” 600.


Mr. Meng added, “‘Dragon’ 600 is now the largest amphibious airplane in the world, and its research is in progress. Same as ‘Dragon’ 600, the amphibious airplane ‘seagull’ 300 made its debut in Zhuhai Air Show last year. Now we are working on its airworthiness certification, and try to make it done by the end of this year. Business jet Primus 150 is also under development.”

General Airplane now has total assets of over 43 billion RMB and more than 21,600 employees. Its total revenue reached 19.1 billion RMB in 2010. Its five pillar services are general airplane manufacturing, general aviation operation service, aviation and automotive parts, new material and equipment manufacturing.
