The day is still fresh on my mind when I departed from my motherland, NEPAL; while it has been around half a year since I left my country. Leaving behind all those beautiful moments and shedding tears, I set off to start a new journey, CHINA. Holding the dreams and hopes in my heart, I take an oath of determination to succeed in life and to learn and achieve what I have come for. It is my first experience to explore a new country of vitality with new people, new language, new customs, and contemporary culture. I could see lots of variations within the nation that made me astonished. I was excited, over whelmed, and curious all at the same time.

We headed for the school with my companions, wandering how it would look like in the real world apart from the pictures. I glanced towards the Shenyang city on the way, admiring its beauty and development. As I carried on with the views outside, I began to recall the aerial views of my place from the plane. The then moment, I realized my country was really beautiful, the way people used to describe its magnificence. Remembering the moment of waving hands to my family, friends, love and well wishers brought tears in my eyes. After a while, we reached to the gate of SAU and I took a deep breath of happiness. It was more picturesque when viewed from eyes than in the pictures. I felt glad we made it to the university.

It was late evening when we were welcomed by our Nepalese seniors to the international student’s dormitory. We made ourselves comfortable with our people. It was a special day for us. We were exhausted which soon disappeared as we roamed around the university. It brought us back with the spirit and energy. As time passed we made ourselves comfortable with the environment outside and adapted among the Chinese people. I have personally found Chinese people very friendly and respectful. They are always willing to help the foreigner and make us feel at home. Their hospitality is greatly appreciated and well behaved. The international students live as a part of a family in the dormitory helping each other in the time of need. The international student department is always attempting its best to make our academics, living and environment better.

Shenyang is the capital city of Liaoning province of china. It is full of vitality so we got to roam around to visit the places. The names of the international market brands that I used to hear, I could actually experience here. The city was advanced than the one where I had come from. Shenyang has skyscrapers, financial buildings, international shopping centers, the Forbidden City, and many more jaw dropping places to visit. The pedestrians were very fond to see us as not many foreigners could be seen in Shenyang. Definitely, we were having a great university experience. My class was full of international students who came from countries like Nepal, Bangladesh, Nigeria, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Pakistan, Cambodia and many more. We speak different languages that enable us not only to speak Chinese, but also other nation’s language. We share our cultural experience and views on a topic. Our class has a good mutual cooperation and everybody enjoys class. Teachers are supportive and always ready to help the students. There is a bit of language problem but the teachers try their best to make their students understand.

Besides classes, we also have various activities conducted for entertainment and learning, programs like Chinese calligraphy, Chinese corner, cooking food and cultural programs.

Time seems to have passed so soon, our first semester have completed. I hope my second semester would also go smoothly and with memorable experiences. One thing I have kept in my mind is that I shouldn’t forget what I have come here for. I have come here to acquire knowledge and achieve my dreams, and I will work hard as much as possible to reach my aim. And I am sure all the students here in the university have the same thoughts, the thoughts for the better society, life and humanity.
