A wonderful sports festival was enjoyed by all the students and lecturers on May 13th and 14th, held at the university's stadium. It was destined to be an historic event as it was the first ever sports meeting since the change to both the name and status of our university.
All the schools and departments of the university participated in the meeting. The team from the International Cooperation Department was truly fantastic, with all our international students, lecturers and office staff resplendent in their colourful uniforms. It was a proud moment for all of us as we joined other teams in the arena on a sparkling Spring day. Our team champions did us proud as they represented us in more events than ever before!
John from Nigeria ran like the wind in the 100 meters.
Jonathan from France sped along the track in the 100 meters.
Here's Australian lecturer Peter in the 1500 meters. Nobody enjoyed the day as much as Peter did.
Lecturer Kris from Belgium entered his first long jump competition since high school-with barely a change.
Our champion Nigerian student Bello won first prize in the shot put.
International students in the 5000 meters. They were heroes.
