On November 29th, SYIAE was visited by Mr. Zhang Qingwei, the Chairman of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd. SYIAE President Wang Wei and Vice President Rui Xiaomiao chaired the meeting and gave a report detailing research projects presently conducted at the university.
The Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China, Ltd., which is mainly involved in the design and manufacture of civil aircraft, was established with Chinese State Council authorization. It oversees branch companies such as Avici Commercial Aircraft Co., Ltd., Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute, Shanghai Aircraft Manufacturing Factory, and Shanghai Aeronautical Engineering Group.
Mr Zhang commented: "The developing of large aircraft is an new trend in aircraft manufacture. SYIAE's history and present research goals make it destined to join in large aircraft design research, which has never been more urgently needed. I represent the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China in encouraging SYIAE's Knowledge Engineering Project to forge closer cooperative ties with researchers engaged at large aircraft R & D facilities, so as to improve links with the large aircraft companies."
