On September 16, SAU Undergraduate Education Conference was convened. Hua Lei, deputy director of the education department of Liaoning province, attended the conference and delivered a speech. The conference was hosted by Vice President Lin Feng.
At 8:30am, the conference officially started in the solemn national anthem. At the opening ceremony, Hua Lei delivered a speech. She congratulated the conference on behalf of the provincial department of education of Liaoning province, and affirmed SAU’s achievements in undergraduate education work relying on the advantages of traditional education in recent years. She hoped that SAU would thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping’s thoughts on socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, strive to practice the nine principles, and train socialist builders and successors who are well developed in all rounds. SAU should adhere to the principle of "taking undergraduate as the foundation", comprehensively promote the "four returns" and realize a high-level education for undergraduates. Besides SAU should stick to the five major economic development strategies and the "one belt and five bases" initiative in Liaoning, improve the quality and core competitiveness of talent cultivation, and create a new development pattern featuring education and economic integration for Liaoning's economy.
In the report, Sun Xiaoping put forward four opinions on the work of education as an undergraduate of the university. First, optimize mechanism and carry out relevant plans for improving undergraduate education. Second, strictly supervise the system and strengthen the evaluation and supervision of teaching quality. Third, establish a reasonable incentive mechanism to enable teachers to maintain high teaching input and excellent teaching performance through the incentive mechanism, and to create an external environment for the quality teaching behavior of teaching subjects through the construction of the incentive mechanism. Fourth, establish the necessary elimination mechanism and urge all teachers to reflect quickly with the development of society and keep pace with the times in teaching activities.
In the afternoon, the staff had heated group discussion on doing a good job in teaching and evaluation, engineering professional certification, and promoting "four returns". After the group discussion, Xia Xiufeng, secretary of the party committee of Computer Science College and other representatives from different colleges made typical speeches.
Party Secretary Zhai Wenbao gave his speech focusing on strengthening the undergraduate and promoting the overall improvement of talent cultivation quality.
He pointed out that the 19th CPC national congress adhered to the strategic height of developing socialism with Chinese characteristics in the new era and made a major deployment of giving priority to developing the education cause, accelerating the modernization of education and building the great power of education. This is a guideline document for reform and development of education in our new era. It is also a political and historical mission that we must fulfill and accomplish.
Zhai finally stressed that teachers must regard students as their children and cultivate socialist builders and successors in all rounds.
Nearly 1,000 people, including the full-time teachers, counselors, staff representatives, student representatives attended the meeting.
