Introduction to College of Aerospace Engineering
College of Aerospace Engineering is characterized by the discipline of aeronautics and astronautics. Currently there are 86 faculty members, 75 full-time teachers and 51 doctorates, including 20 professors, 29 associate professors and 5 senior engineers, among which are 5 doctoral tutors and 43 master tutors. 2,315 students are studying in the college currently, including 1,725 full-time undergraduates and 222 master's degree students in engineering. The college is working on the development of foreign students education at undergraduate and postgraduate levels with US, Russia, and other countries and regions. At present, the total number of foreign students in this college is 372.
The college has four undergraduate specialties, including Aerospace Engineering, Aircraft Design and Engineering, Aircraft Manufacturing Engineering, and Mechanics Engineering. The college has a national level practical teaching demonstration center- ”Aerospace Engineering" experimental center, aerospace technology exhibition, and material mechanics, which are provincial excellent courses in Liaoning Province.
The college is the first-class doctoral construction unit of Aerospace Science and Technology and grants two master's degrees in two first-class disciplines of Aerospace Science and Technology and Mechanics, six master's degrees in secondary disciplines along with the right to grant master's degrees in engineering in the field of aviation engineering. The college currently has several national, provincial and ministerial scientific research platforms such as the National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for New Energy General Aircraft Technology, the Digital National Defense Key Discipline Laboratory for Aeronautical Manufacturing Technology, and the Liaoning Key Laboratory for Structural Analysis and Simulation of Aircraft Composite Materials. Ten scientific research teams (research institutes) have been formed, including the overall and aerodynamic design of aircraft, the structure and strength of aircraft, the dynamics and control of aircraft, the digital manufacturing of aviation, the special manufacturing of aviation, and the assembly technology of aircraft. In the past five years, more than 300 national, provincial and ministerial-level projects were developed. Nearly 100 national patents were invented and 400 papers published.
The college has been working with Liaoning General Aviation Academy and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for New Energy General Aircraft Technology) in personnel training and scientific research, and has built national off-campus practical education bases for students in Shenyang Aircraft Manufacturing Company, Shenyang Aircraft Design Research Institute and other organizations.
