Introduction to College of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering

College of Mechanical & Electrical Engineering has a long history, strong strength and outstanding discipline characteristics. It has cultivated a large number of professional and technical personnel for the national aviation industry and made important contributions to the development of national defense engineering. The major of mechanical engineering was founded in 1952 and is one of the earliest majors in SAU. After more than 60 years of construction and development, it has now become a first level master’s degree in mechanical engineering field. The college has three undergraduate majors, namely Vehicle Engineering, Mechanical and Electronics Engineering as well as Mechanical Design, Manufacturing and its Automation. At present, the college has more than 2200 undergraduates, 200 postgraduates and 170 overseas students. In the past three years, the employment rate of undergraduates in the college has remained above 95%.

The college currently has 11 provincial and ministerial research and development platforms, of which the "Digitalization of Aviation Manufacturing Technology" National Defense Key Laboratory is one of the 34 national defense key laboratories. The Mechanical Engineering Experimental Teaching Center is an experimental teaching demonstration center in Liaoning Province. The existing experimental teaching area is about 4500 square meters. There are more than 10 sets of high-level instruments and equipment such as horizontal turning, boring and milling machining centers, vertical machining centers, precision electric spark forming machine tools, large-size optical coordinate measuring machines, flexible manufacturing systems, laser rapid prototyping machines, etc.

The college has a well-structured teaching team, active academic thinking and high comprehensive quality, with 86 faculty members. This includes 67 full-time teachers and 9 experimental teaching staff. Among the full-time teachers, there are 46 doctor's degrees and 19 master's degrees, including 14 professors, 21 associate professors, 1 national millennium-talent-project academic, 2 special experts from the State Council, 1 distinguished professor from Liaoning Province.

The college always gives great importance to teaching research based on the characteristics of aviation, serving the old industrial base in Northeast China. In the past three years, they have undertaken 20 teaching reform projects and won 2 second and 5 third prizes for teaching achievements in Liaoning Province. A total of more than 60 scientific research projects have been undertaken and completed, and more than 250 scientific research papers have been published, of which more than 30 are included in SCI, more than 80 are included in EI, and 6 monographs have been published.
The college has formed obvious characteristics and advantages in discipline construction and personnel training, developed a scientific research system that organically combines applied pre-research with engineering application and industrial development, and trained a large number of compound senior talents who are dedicated and innovative, which have been fully recognized by the society.
