On 20th December 2021, the College of Aerospace Engineering organized the graduation defense for the Fall 2021 batch of graduating Aeronautical Engineering students. It was held online for all students.

The defense panel comprised six professors, chaired by Prof. HAN ZhiRen. A total of thirty international students participated, twelve of whom were on campus and the remaining outside China. Due to the number of students, the defense was organized in two sessions and the students were divided into two groups. The first session started at 09:00 a.m. and ended at 12:00 p.m., the second session started at 1:00p.m. and ended at 4:30 p.m.

Each student had a maximum of five minutes to present their thesis, after which they were asked some questions to determine their level of understanding of their chosen graduation project. Majority of the students had a smooth defense - they presented their thesis confidently and were also able to answer the questions to the satisfaction of the defense panel. For a few students however, due to problems associated with internet connection, the time required for them to defend was extended.

The patience of the professors was very admirable as they took their time to listen to all the students, especially the students who faced problems with their internet connection.

Overall, the students did a very good job in preparing for their defense and they also demonstrated in depth knowledge of their graduation projects to the satisfaction of the defense panel.
