SAU international students win the first prize in Chinese Bridge Competition

On October 14, 2020, the “Chinese Bridge • Global Music” International Music Talent Video Competition came to a successful conclusion. The Competition was co-hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC) and Central Conservatory of Music (CCOM), and organized by Music Confucius Institute Office & Center for International Music Culture Exchange, CCOM.

As a part of the “Chinese Bridge • Global Music” Chinese Music Culture Online International Summer Camp, the Competition received 232 videos from 243 foreign Chinese learners and those who are interested in Chinese culture from 68 countries International students Fortune 圣运 & Neema 尼曼 from SAU participated in and won first prize in the vocal group. Their performance is a Chinese song named 生僻字|中国话 | Uncommon Words, in which they have added some Chinese rap in the song which they created themselves.

The experts of the Judging Committee highly praised the value of the Competition and applauded the participants’ understanding and enthusiasm for Chinese music culture. While triggering a boom of “Chinese Melody" in China and abroad, the Competition also witnessed the emergence of a number of excellent original works. Using the “universal language”, participants have made active contributions to the further promotion of in-depth exchange between Chinese and foreign music culture.
